Engage where they're at

If you engage users while they're deleting or considering deleting, you're best equipped to catch those users.

If you're trying to target churn, then one of the things you should be doing is collecting user feedback from users who are deleting. You can do that with something called Quick Actions on iOS and App Shortcuts on Android.

Quality feedback

If you implement a simple email or open field survey, you likely still won't get great results. You'll get sub-par engagement rate (1-4%) and likely get one line answers.

This is because users aren't great at giving open ended feedback. They need someone or some AI (Resubscribe) to dig in and ask contextual follow-up questions.
